The International Foundation Year Program: the Facts

• Academic calendar: September 2012 - May 2013 
• Language training (academic English); Courses in German, French, Russian, Spanish and Chinese may also be visited!

Aside from the academic education, it is important to Jacobs University that Foundation Year students are fully integrated into the university’s everyday life.  You will therefore live among undergraduate students and will also be able to take part in other aspects of student life, such as clubs and sports. The residential colleges on campus promote togetherness in living and learning: while each resident has a single room, a bathroom and hall are shared with a roommate, who is typically of a different nationality. Living and learning are thus academically, socially and culturally connected. The internationally diverse student body helps to acquire key intercultural skills, as lecturers and students come from over 100 countries. The official language on campus is English.

Important! Students who complete the program successfully and attain Jacobs admission criteria will be granted admission to Jacobs University’s undergraduate program. The Jacobs bachelor degree is completed in three years, so if you take advantage of the International Foundation Year Program and then choose to enter Jacobs as an undergraduate, you can complete your degree in the same amount of time as in the United States – 4 years.
